First it’s balanced, then it’s published.
In 2024 we published Yatai: the Japanese street food stall where awkward customers can end up in someone else’s queue. Before that came the raids among the Celts of Britain in Verrix; and from 15 September comes Sub‑Zero, where you fight to be as ready as possible for winter.
In 2021 we published Verrix: set in Celtic Britain, among raids, short-lived alliances and a trade you can’t refuse. Then came Yatai, where awkward customers get sent to the neighbouring stalls; and from 15 September comes Sub‑Zero, where you fight to get ready for winter.
From 15 September comes Sub‑Zero: six factions of Arctic Animals and three seasons to get as ready as possible for winter. Before that we published Verrix, with raids among the Celtic tribes of Britain, and Yatai, where awkward customers get sent to the neighbours’ stalls.
First of all, a promise
Dawn Town Games is a small board game publisher. Our catalogue has only three games: not many. That’s because every detail is a deliberate choice, made to give you a game that is fun and complete. Before telling you what our games are, we’d rather tell you what we guarantee — and to say it we use two words we didn’t invent, but that have become our motto.
Ludite Securi
“Play with peace of mind”
At Vettweiss‑Froitzheim, in Germany, a 4th-century Roman dice tower was unearthed. Legionaries used it so that nobody could rig a throw.
Pictos victos hostis deleta ludite securi
“The Picts defeated, the enemy wiped out — play with peace of mind”
It’s carved into the tower, and it became our motto because it says the same thing. We test a game until it stops breaking: by the time it comes out, we’ve already done the dirty work. You just sit down and play.
Three games, three worlds
They have different settings, illustrators and graphic styles: looking at them, you wouldn’t think they came from the same publisher. What they share doesn’t show — it’s the years of testing, the balancing redone from scratch when needed, and rulebooks written and rewritten until they make sense on the first read.
